Sumario: The project that resulted in this dissertation arose from the need to document and analyze the career transition process of high-performance Rhythmic Gymnastics (GR) gymnasts, investigating which professional paths are initiated after the end of the competitive cycle. To this end, we defined a common historical milestone of utmost importance for Brazilian GR, the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. Therefore, the research collaborators are the gymnasts from the Olympic delegation of the Brazilian Individual and Team Team of the aforementioned mega-event. As a data collection method, we used the thematic oral history model, with the aim of extracting each report in the most organic way possible from the perspective of the protagonists of this historical-sports time frame. When seeking to understand retirement in sport, more specifically in Rhythmic Gymnastics, we strive to raise awareness and suggest actions in favor of all athletes who will go through this process.
