Summary: Over the seventeen years of experience in school teaching I realized that sports content is predominant in physical education classes, however, volleyball is discredited by prejudice and learning difficulties. This study aimed to describe and analyze a teaching model for volleyball in high school in a public school in the interior of Bahia with 230 students, from the 2nd year, between 15 and 18 years old. It is a qualitative research of the type of action research, which is focused on intervention in social reality. A review of the literature pertaining to sports practice at school and sports pedagogy in the methodological development of volleyball teaching was carried out. Three procedures were used: investigative questionnaire, dialogued practical intervention and supervised exchange with the community. It was concluded that, based on the supporting literature, the interventions at school and the effective return of external nuclei, had in the mixed teaching methodology, a better understanding and adherence of students to the practice of volleyball in the mentioned school. These results generated a volleyball teaching manual for Physical Education teachers and students.
