Summary: In recent years, health actions and policies have gained greater potential in health promotion activities aimed at children and adolescence, mainly at school, as they understand that these are periods of human development in which behavior, character, personality and life style are established, and that the environment in which the young person is inserted is one of the main factors influencing behavior. According to Paim and Almeida Filho (1998), such educational actions can be adopted in different organizations and institutions, by different agents inside and outside the space conventionally recognized as the “health sector”. Issues related to a healthy life have entered the school environment and health has become an important topic in educational actions. In this sense, the understanding of health, as well as the discourses regarding body and health care produced and consumed, by adults, in childhood education, especially in Public Education Municipal Centers of Serra/ES, were evaluated in this research. Regarding methodological aspects, the main research instruments were participant observation, the use of semi-structured interviews and the experiment with the Body Map Narratives technique. This research concludes that the discourses related to body care and health, in the Childhood Education Municipal Centers, assisted by this research, present concepts that are close to and distant from the understanding of an expanded health. However, considerations relating to the unique context of the communities involved, promote a different affect on the participating subjects, adults and children, thus reconfiguring their considerations in relation to norms and ways of hegemonic life.
