Summary: Our objectives were: To discuss the treatment of sports knowledge in the curriculum of teacher education in physical education; to analyze the representations and methodological constructions of approach to knowing sports in a curriculum of teacher education in physical education. We approached a theoretical study, which used the bibliographic review and documentary research for the construction of the data, as well as in the establishment of the analysis framework. From the results, we identified that there is a search to build a treatment for sport that breaks with the traditionalisms of the area and approaches the specificity of teacher training, but that, despite these emancipatory energies, the paths are still unclear, about what and how teaching sports from the perspective of teaching knowledge.
