Summary: The aim of the study was to analyze how high school students at Colégio Pedro II understand, invest in and care for the body in what Zygmunt Bauman agreed to call a consumer society. The research was carried out with seventy-seven (77) regular and integrated high school students at Colégio Pedro II - Campus São Cristóvão III. Information was collected using two instruments: (1) online survey questionnaire and (2) focus group. In the online survey questionnaire seventy-seven students answered closed and open questions related to the theme of the study. The focus group was attended by seven (7) students, selected from the analysis of the responses to the online survey questionnaire. The organization - script - was based on information from the online survey questionnaire and the objectives of the work. The information was analyzed from the intersection of information from the online survey questionnaire and the focus group, based on the Senses Interpretation Method, privileging the dialogue with the sociological approach of Zygmunt Bauman. The developed analyzes demonstrated that there are two groups of students: (1) students who understand the body from the plurality and diversity, having the construction of the corporal identities guided by the individuality and subjectivity - unique and authorial - of the own body and; (2) students who have ambivalent bodily identities, that is, as in liquid modernity, their opinions and feelings about the body are fluid and dependent on different factors.
